Project Playroom

The playroom is about 90% finished. Keeping with the rest of the house, there's still basically nothing hung on the walls. Of course Reece loves it; he described it as a "wonderland."

Just one before (actually, during) picture. Imagine a really bad paint job and toys everywhere and you'll get the picture.

The paint is light blue. Reece was understandably confused when he saw the paint going up and said, "I thoughted you were painting the walls blue. That looks bright white." This was just a blank wall. Now it has a magnetic chalkboard and some art clips to hold, what else, art. Reece has an easel but it's just more fun to write on the walls.

The solution to the storage problem. And Reece can watch Thomas and play Thomas at the same time.

The door-less closet. I'd like to make some curtains for the door because I think that would be fun for a playroom. And we're thinking of getting them a new kitchen as a joint birthday present to replace the coffee table kitchen we've got going on now.

I made these curtains (and by "made" I mean I sewed eight straight lines!) I'd also like to make some sort of cushion for the toy box to make it like a bench. Now that I'm able to sew a few things, it has gone to my head and I'm convinced I can sew everything.

Darren built some shelves in the closet to hold some big toys and toys with choking hazards (and we thought he wasn't handy). Once a day, Reece tells us what he wants on his table, and that's what he gets.

The other side of the closet has one, low shelf that acts as an additional play surface.

This was fun and exhausting. I think I'm going to take a break from painting until after I get their birthday plans underway.

I am jealous! I wish we had a playroom for the kids, but I am glad for the huge living room we do have! The curtains are fun and I am the same as you now, I think I can sew everything! :) Wish me luck, I am embarking on sewing projects this week...a baby sling is the first one up!
